NAC operates regular flight from GBIA

KATHMANDU, June 13: One year after Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) came into operation, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is set to start regular flights from Tuesday.

KATHMANDU, June 13: One year after Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) came into operation, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is set to start regular flights from Tuesday.


Chief of GBIA Hansraj Pandey said that NAC is going to fly one day a week under Kathmandu-Malaysia-Bhairahawa-Kathmandu route.

The NAC’s narrow body aircraft will land at the airport on Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM. Pandey mentioned that the corporation, which initially scheduled flights on one day of the week, is planning to expand the number of flights according to passenger demand.


At present, NAC has been flying regularly to various international destinations including Delhi, Doha, Bangalore, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Mumbai, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and other international destinations with a total of four large aircrafts, two narrow body and two wide body.


After Jazeera Airlines, with the commercial flights of the corporation, the number of airlines operating international flights at Bhairahawa have reached two.


According to Airport Chief Pandey, Cambodia and Myanmar have also started market studies for regular flights at this airport. He said that both Buddhist countries have started preparations for commercial flights focusing on Lumbini.
