NA defuses socket bombs at Siraha

SIRAHA, Oct 25: A bomb disposal team of Nepal Army (NA) defused two bombs found at Jamdaha-4 and Muksar here in the district on Friday.



NA team deputed from Choharba-based Srinath Battalion defused the socket bombs planted by an unidentified group ahead of UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s visit in the constituency number-5 of the district as part of election campaign. He is contesting elections from the constituency No. 5.



According to police, locals had informed police about the bomb after they found a suspicious object this morning. A black flag has also been recovered from the site.



A Tarai-based underground outfit Madhes Rastra Janatantrik Party (Revolutionary) has claimed responsibility of planting the bombs.



CPN-Maoist, a breakaway faction of the UCPN (Maoist) has called Siraha banda aiming to thwart Dahal’s election campaigns in the district.



Meanwhile, UCPN (Maoist) chairman Dahal has arrived in Lahan of the district as part of his election campaign. According to Hira Lal Chaudhary of UCPN (Maoist), Dahal will participate in the door-to-door campaign from today itself.
