expression
Arbindra Man Singh
My home and I, and your roads
Day by day, I become smaller
While you grow leaps and bounds
Crushing and pushing me to the side
You have invaded my space with pride
My home and I, and your roads
Feeding on my fear
You keep growing
Where flowers once used to bloom
And trees swayed in the gentle breeze
Now, there is a mad rush of vehicles
Just the sight of which fills me with gloom
My home and I, and your roads
You call it development
I ask, for what good and for what purpose?
Without compensation, I have lost all my investment
My hard work lies in rubbles on the streets
My home and I, and your roads
I feel harassed and lost
But you say this is for the greater good
So, my home is now yours
I’m forced to call your road my home
