Murderer of teenage girl arrested after 20 years

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: A man who murdered a teenage girl 20 years ago has finally been arrested. Man Kumar Rai aka Gorey, 49, of Suryodaya Municipality, former Pashupatinagar VDC-3, has been arrested by the police. He had murdered 18 years old Rojina Rai on 19 January, 2002.

Man Kumar had slit Rojina’s throat on the evening of 19 January, 2002 and was on the run since then. According to Mahendra Kumar Shrestha, chief of the District Police Office, a special police investigation has succeeded in arresting Rai, who was working regularly in his own village.

Chief Shrestha said that the accused has admitted that he is guilty and further investigation is underway.
