KATHMANDU, Sept 27: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa today committed to bringing the murderer(s) of 13-year-old Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur who was raped and murdered, to justice.
"Panta's murderer(s) could be brought to justice. I assured all of this. Additional investigations are ongoing into the incident acting on the report submitted by the probe commission. The results will come out soon," he said at a meeting of the Women, Children, Senior Citizens and Social Welfare under the Legislature-Parliament.
He also said the government has accorded a high priority to ending all sorts of violence against women while urging collective efforts and non-politicisation in VAW.
"Any types of crimes that promote VOW like alcohol and illegal drugs related crimes and pornography should be ended. And the government is working on it," he said.
Secretary Prem Rai stressed the need for collective efforts and coordination between inter ministries in stopping VAW. Likewise, Inspector General of Police Sarbendra Khanal said that the police were committed to drawing VAW to a close. RSS
