Given the gravity of the case, the guilty has been given the maximum punishment, the court verdict stated. On September 22, 2010, Subas Thapamagar aka Bairagi of Dhola-2 Panipokhari in Dhadhing district killed his woman neighbor Nirmaya Pulami and her daughter Anushka, hacking them with an axe while they were asleep. Thapamagar admitted to killing the mother and daughter and having sex with the daughter´s dead body right on the spot. [break]
As per the verdict, Pulami was given 20 years in prison for double murder, 12 years more for killing an underage girl and an extra 7 years for engaging in sex with her dead body. The court also fined Pulami Rs 200,000 to compensate the victims´ family.
Similarly, in another case of the same nature, the court slapped 31 years imprisonment and confiscation of property on Niraj Tamang for killing Chanamati Tamang of Chhatredeurali-5 and having sex with her dead body.
The court verdict states that Tamang was given 20 years for the murder along with confiscation of his entire property and 7 more years for the necrophilia. Besides, Niraj was slapped 4 more years as a fine and another 1.5 months for theft at Chanamati´s house.
Ram Tamang, another man convicted in the same case, was sentenced to 7 years 6 months and 15 days in prison. The two are also ordered to pay Rs 50 thousand in compensation to the victim´s family.
Niraj and Ram Tamang had choked Chanamati to death after an abortive attempt to rape her. The two conceded having sex with the dead body.
