With an intention to enhance hidden talents of youngsters of Rauniyar community, Emmy Entertainment, organized the first edition of Mr and Miss Rauniyar recently. It was an amazing scenario to see ample of participation from Terai based Rauniyar community, where people hardly let their daughters to participate in pageants.

Judge of the pageant and choreographer, Prashant Tamrakar openly lauded about the positive change in Rauniyar community. He said, “I was grown in Rauniyar community. At that time females were confined within four walls for household chores. I am so happy to see girls from same community stepping into modeling world.”

There was a total of 60 participants in the competition, among them 24 (12 girls and 12 boys) were selected for final competition. Priya Rauniyar bagged the title of first Miss Rauniyar, Similarly, Janvi Gupta and Angel Rauniyar become first and second runner-ups, respectively. Likewise, Aasish Rauniyar, Rohit Rauniyar and Mohit Rauniyar conquered the Mr Rauniyar as winner, first and second runner-ups, respectively.

Choreographer Sanjay Rauniyar, Actress Sanchita Luitel, Choroeograpbher Prashank Tamrakar, Singer Sachin Rauniyar, and Choreographer Gobinda Rai were in the judge panel, which was led by main judge Rabindra Kumar Rijal.

According to the organizer, Bharat Rauniyar, it was not hard to find male participants though convincing females, to participate in the pageant was more than just difficult. He said, “Parents of our community still think that participating in pageant will degrade their prestige. Previously, parents did not allow thier daughters to travel from terai to Kathmandu. But, we team members marketed through several social media platforms and then we went to their doorsteps to explain about the pageant then only they allowed their daughters to participate in the pageant.”
