Mountain Air chopper makes forced landing

KATHMANDU, SEPT 25: A Mountain Air chopper heading towards Kathmandu from Lukla was compelled to make a forced landing due to a technical problem.

KATHMANDU, SEPT 25: A Mountain Air chopper heading towards Kathmandu from Lukla was compelled to make a forced landing due to a technical problem.


According to an official of Mountain Air, the helicopter with call sign 9N ALQ was force-landed in a field after there was a technical problem in the engine within 13 minutes of takeoff.

Captain Suraj Thapa was flying the helicopter, the official said.


After the forced landing, passengers and the pilot have returned to Lukla. According to him, the pilot is returning to Kathmandu on the next flight.
