Motorcyclist dies after being hit by tipper in Bhaktapur

KATHMANDU, Feb 20: A motorcyclist has died after being hit by a tipper, Ba 5 Kha 7747, at Tathali of Changunarayan Municipality -9, Bhaktapur district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Bishnu Raj Pant of, Krishnapur Municipality-2, Kanchanpur. He was currently staying at Babarmahal, Kathmandu.  The accident took place at around 1 pm. 

“Pant was critically injured when he was hit by the tipper at Lhompa along the Bramhayini Road in Tathali. Seriously injured Pant succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to Bhaktapur Hospital,” DSP Sishu Sharma, chief of Bhaktapur Metropolitan Circle, Jagati, told Republica Online.

According to tipper driver Binod Thapa,35, who originally hails from Dhangadhimai Municipality-14, Siraha, Pant was hit by the tipper while he was trying to overtake the tipper in a slippery and narrow road. Both the tipper and the bike were heading to Chyamasing from Tathali when the accident took place.

Pant had come to Kathmandu for writing exams from his home district a month ago, according to his cousin Kamal Raj Bhatta.

Police have taken the driver and the tipper under control and are investigating the case, said DSP Sharma.
