COVID-19 response, ‘Quarantine Campaigning Theater Festival Nepal’ with more Nepali dramas livestreaming on Facebook

On the occasion of World Theater Day, and a response to the lockdown due to global pandemic COVID-19, Theater Mall, Kirtipur and Theater Center for Children (TCC Nepal) jointly began 'Quarantine Campaign Theatrical Festival 2076' on March 27. 

In the festival, the videos of drama are being shown via its official Facebook page‐- Theater Mall -- at 5 pm onwards. The first day of festival kicked off on Friday with a live streaming of ‘Maan VS Malti’ by Kedar Shrestha. Though having some technical glitches on the first day, the initiation garnered good response amid Nepali theater enthusiasts.

On the first day, around 250 people watched the drama’s live streaming on the Theatre Mall’s Facebook page, where Shrestha shared, “The audience liked the video format even though they did not get the feel of watching it in the theater. However, both the viewers who have watched and missed the drama have responded positively.”

Then, on Saturday, Namarta KC directorial ‘Rajendra Laxmi’ was live streamed, having more than 500 viewers, which will be followed by Dayahang Rai’s direction ‘Jalini’ on  third day, Sunday, and Katha Ghera’s presentation ‘Pach’ which is directed Sudam CK will be live streamed on fourth day of the festival.  

Other line-up includes, Akanchha Karki directorial ‘Dayalu Rukh’, Diya Maskey starred ‘Sakuntalako Aauthi’ and ‘Andheri Nagari Chaupat Raja’ directed by Sangeet Sapkota and Aashish Ghimire. Likewise, ‘Puppet Play’ from Denmark and Indian silent drama ‘Nothing to Say’ are also going to be showcased.
