BIRATNAGAR, Jan 15: Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Morang has accused the government of trying to betray Batas group in the Narayanhiti Durbar Museum Cafeteria case. The body of traders and entrepreneurs issued a statement on Friday accusing the government of trying to defame Batas group, which was selected from the tender process of the ministry.

A statement signed by Suyash Pyakurel, President of Chamber of Industries Morang, said that the Narayanhiti Durbar Museum Republic Monument Management and Operations Committee under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation had invited tenders for renting a cafeteria in the memorial premises and BPS Leasing and Management under Batas Organization was selected from the tender process.

“The Batas group had started its business after a bilateral agreement, which was reached between BPS Leasing and Management and Narayanhiti Durbar Museum for the operation of the cafeteria. The Chamber expressed its strong objection to the unrestrained propaganda that is currently being used to discourage and deceive industrialists in a one-sided manner,”' said the statement.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Morang also stated that there is a mischievous attempt to save those involved in the decision-making process and place all the blame on an entrepreneur doing business.

According to the Chamber of Industries Morang, the planned attack on an entrepreneur was an attempt to demoralize the entire private sector. The statement further said that such incidents will only strengthen the element that wants to establish the misconception that there is no business environment in Nepal.

The body of traders and entrepreneurs also demanded the government to bring the authorities involved in the decision-making process under the purview of law by investigating the fact that the Batas organization has been treated unfairly.
