Monsoon activities weaken today

Kathmandu, July 14: The monsoon which had been in full swing since Friday has gradually decreased today.

The monsoon trough, presently based in the Tarai territory will be moving back towards the south from tomorrow. According to Meteorological Forecasting Division meteorologist Samir Shrestha, as the monsoon trough starts moving towards the south, India will see active monsoon.

Widespread rain from light to moderate scale with general clouds is expected throughout the country today with the chance of heavy rain at one or two places. Rain is predicted at few places across the country on Monday.

 “Particularly, some parts in the central region and a few places in eastern and western Nepal are likely to experience heavy rains with mostly cloudy weather throughout the country”, the Division said. According to the Division's latest updates, Kathmandu Valley received one mm rain, Pokhara 37 mm, Dipayal 19 mm, Biratnagar 12 mm, Nepalgunj 64 mm, Jumla 2 mm, Dang 20 mm and Simara 70 mm. respectively.
