Monastery robbed of cash, conch; five held

KAVRE, Sept 6: Burglars have looted Rs 350,000 in cash along with a conch at gunpoint from Chhoilel Kundalang Gumba based in Khanikhola rural municipality-7 in the district.

An unidentified armed gang arriving on two motorbikes barged into the monastery, took priest Tilak Lama under control and robbed the monastery of cash and a conch on Tuesday evening, according to DSP Deepak Giri of District Police Office, Kavre.

A police team led by Police Inspector Parshuram Ghimire has arrested five people in connection with the robbery.

The arrested are Anil Ghising, of Khanikhola-7, Ramesh Thokar, Jag Bahadur Gole of Khanikhola 2, Bikas Banjara and Nishan Gole of Panauti Municipality-8.

Police said they are investing the case after taking them into custody.
