“They had locked the door from inside before committing suicide,” claimed DSP Regmi.

Buddhimaya used to sell tea at Milan Chowk. As she did not open her shop till late on Friday morning, some people reached her home. When they sneaked from the window, they found the family members hanging from the ceiling and immediately informed the police.

Buddhimaya’s husband Nara Bahadur Ale is in Nepal Army and had recently come home hoping to admit his son to an army school.

On March 30, Nara Bahadur and Budhimaya had visited Army Residential School for their son’s entrance exam. After the exams, she returned home with her son while Nara Bahadur went to his family home in Bharatpur. As the result of the entrance exam was published on Thursday, Nar Bahadur called his wife and told her that they would have to send both of their children to government school as their son could not  pass the entrance exam.

He says he spoke to her on the phone till 10 pm that night. Earlier, the couple had engaged in a serious dispute which was resolved by the locals. However, Nara Bahadur claims that they had not had a single fight since then. Buddhimaya’s sister-in-law Parbati Saru, informed Republica that she was with the family till 10 pm and was normal.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem on Friday. Police have expedited investigation into the case.
