MoHP to celebrate Immunization Week from April 24

KATHMANDU, April 15: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) is going to celebrate Immunization Week from April 24 to April 30.


The MoHP is going to celebrate Immunization Week with the aim of celebrating April as the month of complete immunization and verification.


Dr Bivek Kumar Lal, director of the Family Welfare Division (FWD) of the Ministry of Health, informed Republica that the week is going to be celebrated to ensure that all the children who missed vaccination are fully vaccinated in Nepal.

He said that all the children exempted from wearing it during the week will be vaccinated. Director Lal said that as the number of children missing vaccination in various districts is increasing, the risk of epidemics such as measles and rubella may increase.


Information will be given on the need of complete vaccinations to be given for children of 15 months, besides identifying children who have missed vaccination through different means.. Two days of regular campaign will be conducted on April 28 and May 14.


Similarly, on April 19 and April 20, a list of children who missed vaccination will be prepared during the feeding of vitamin 'A', according to the Family Welfare Division. It is said that special programs will be conducted in the community in places such as brick kilns, factories and other places where vaccination is missing, household surveys will be conducted in all wards and health institutions with help of municipal and ward vaccination coordination committee as per the guideline of National Immunization Programme.


Director Lal said that information and coordination will be done in all schools to monitor the vaccination card for all children under five who will be newly enrolled in the school for the next academic session.


At the local level, vaccination will be made mandatory in the distribution of various services and facilities for children. Director Lal said that all the local levels have been requested to make the vaccination week a success through the Ministry of Federal Affairs General Administration.
