JHAPA (REPUBLICA): Two A Division teams Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) and Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) are set to battle for the title of the ongoing 2nd Satashi Gold Cup Football Tournament on Thursday.




To set the title clash with departmental side, MMC overcame host Satashidhaam Sporting Club 2-1 in the semifinal match on Tuesday.

Earlier in the first semifinal clash of the tournament on Monday, TAC had defeated Jhapa XI 3-0. 


In the match played in Jhiljhile of Jhapa, Bimal Rana put MMC in the driving seat scoring an opener in the fourth minute of the match. But Satashidham’s Rejin Subba cancelled the MMC’s lead scoring an equalizer in the 26th minute. Midfielder Bishal Rai restored MMC’s lead into the first minute of second half which eventually became the final goal of the match. Rai was declared man-of-the-match of the tournament and was rewarded with Rs 10,000. 


Host Satashidham was studded with the national players like goalie Bishal Shrestha, defenders Ananta Tamang, Dinesh Rajbanshi, midfielders Hemanta Thapa Magar and forward Bimal Gharti Magar. 


Similarly, MMC also had fielded its regular first team players Biraj Maharjan, Kamal Shrestha, Bishal Rai, Sujal Shrestha, and Anil Gurung. The champion of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 500,000 while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 250,000.
