MK Mainali on top

KATHMANDU, Feb 3: MK Mainali secured top position in the first day of the two-day Lumbini General Insurance National Golf Tournament 2017 played at the Royal Nepal Golf Club in Kathmandu.

The eighth handicap player collected 36 points to secure one-point lead over Purna Man Shakya.

MK scored 17 point on front nine and 19 points on back nine while Purna, the 11 handicap player, scored 19 and 16 points on the front and back nine.

Three players NJ Rayamajhi, HK Sing and Sonam Ghale are tied on third position with 34 points each.

The two-day event being played on ¾ stableford format will finish on Saturday.  

Altogether 23 players played on the opening day of the tournament.
