POKHARA, April 28: A lawmaker belonging to the Rastriya Janamorcha, Khim Bikram Shahi, who went missing earlier, has been found admitted to Charak Memorial Hospital for the treatment of COVID-19.

A senior official at the hospital said Shahi tested positive for COVID-19. "Shahi tested positive for COVID-19.  He is currently undergoing treatment at the ICU ward," said the source.

However, the Gandaki Provincial Health Directorate said Shahi had tested negative for COVID-19. "As per the report received as of 4PM on Wednesday, Shahi has tested negative," said a senior official at the directorate. "All provincial assembly members were tested only yesterday. Shahi's report is negative."

The official said that it won't be good if a person testing negative for COVID-19 is admitted to a COVID-19 designated hospital.

The no-confidence motion filed at the Gandaki Provincial Assembly against Chief Minister Prithivi Subba Gurung fell in a crisis after Shahi went out of contact. Shahi went out of contact early Wednesday morning even as the voting was scheduled for today. He was admitted to the hospital only in the afternoon.
