Ministry takes five decisions to 'improve medical education'

KATHMANDU, June 13: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has taken five decisions aimed at improving the education sector. 

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the MoEST, the decisions include implementing unitary calendar of medical education and its entrance system after final decision of Medical Education Commission headed by Prime Minister, formation of a six-member entrance exam operation and management committee headed by Prof Dr JP Agrawal, Dean of Institute of Medicine, formation of a five-member medical seats quota determination committee headed by Prof Dr Dharma Kanta Baskota, chairman of Nepal Medical Council, formation of a six-member task force headed by Prof Dr Pramod Shrestha to recommend for reforms in the technical and vocational education and training, and formation of a seven-member task force headed by Prof Dr Yadab Raj Koirala to recommend academic equivalency standards of foreign university affiliated campuses. The taskforce has been given two months to submit its report.
