Minister Sah initiates process to declare orange as Nepal’s national fruit

KATHMANDU, March 25: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Jwala Kumari Sah announced that the government is preparing to declare oranges as the national fruit of Nepal.

KATHMANDU, March 25: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Jwala Kumari Sah announced that the government is preparing to declare oranges as the national fruit of Nepal.


She made this declaration while addressing a discussion on the budget and programs related to agriculture for the next fiscal year held at the ministry on Monday.

She said, “I am in the process of getting it passed by the Council of Ministers in a few days. I am trying to declare it as the national fruit.”


Minister Sah also pledged to identify real farmers and distribute farmer ID cards within the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25. “The ministry is actively working on identifying farmers and classifying land,” she said.
