Minister Mahat to partake in PGA forum

KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Energy Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has left for Istanbul of Turkey on Wednesday to take part in the 32nd Annual Forum of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) due to held on October 23-24.



The Annual Forum is the focal point of PGA´s yearly activities being held with the theme "Empowering Women—Building Human Security" this time. It will try to address the nature of women´s role in human security with the three areas of human security—the security of survival, livelihood and dignity. It will discuss women´s access to health care, particularly maternal healthcare and maternity leave.[break]



More than 250 legislators from over 100 countries including high-ranking ministers and other government officials are expected to take part in the function to discuss policy solutions, challenges and strategies. Renowned international experts, academics and representatives of international organisations, UN agencies and civil society will also participate.



Meanwhile, the Prime Minister´s Office has informed that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala will take charge of the Ministry of Energy in the absence of Minister Mahat.
