KATHMANDU, Aug 1: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, and the World Bank's Country Director for Nepal, David Sislen, held a meeting on Thursday.
During the meeting held at the office of the energy minister, a discussion was held on the issue of WB's support to Nepal's energy and irrigation sector as well as various issues.
On the occasion, Minister Khadka stressed that the government would move ahead taking the private sector and donor agencies together for the development of the energy sector.

He pointed out the need for the WB's support in the construction of transmission lines required to sell power in the international market.
Sharing that the government has set a goal of producing 28,000 MW of electricity in 10 years, he underlined the need for the WB's support to achieve the goal.
Minister Khadka expressed the belief that construction activities of the Upper Arun Hydropower Project under construction with the support of the WB would be completed soon.
Similarly, the World Bank's Country Director for Nepal, Sislen, said there would always be support and cooperation from the WB to the development of Nepal's energy and irrigation sectors.
He mentioned that activities are underway in order to complete the Upper Arun Hydropower Project soon, adding that the WB would give priority to energy and irrigation projects.
