KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Minister for Urban Development, Ram Kumari Jhakri has monitored the road encroachment in the Dhobi Khola corridor area.

After repeatedly warning not to encroach upon the road, Minister Jhakri herself went to monitor the corridor on Wednesday. The Kathmandu Valley Development Authority had been warning people not to encroach upon the road against the law as they had been keeping construction materials, shops, tables and chairs making it difficult for vehicles to pass.

Minister Jhakri said that they have been warned once again not to encroach upon the road even during the monitoring today. She said that action will be taken against those who still do not comply with the law. Road encroachment is prohibited as per the Valley Development Authority Act. However, the government is now ready to take legal action against those who violate the law. 

Minister Jhakri also directed the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority to monitor the encroachment of public places. During the monitoring of Minister Jhakri, the police had removed construction materials, shops, etc. placed on the road.
