Mini Punjab in Soaltee Crowne Plaza

Mini Punjab in Soaltee Crowne Plaza

Some waiters donning Pagri—a Punjabi traditional cap, welcoming the guest with drinks in matkas at the entrance. Meanwhile, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri cut the ribbon. Eventually, Ambassador Puri strolled some distance and enthralled the guests by playing a dhol. It felt like a Punjabi dhaba—roadside eatery in Punjab.

The display which guests privileged to witness at the Punjabi dhaba in Katmandu was spellbinding  in  the Punjabi Food Festival, ‘Happy Singh da Dhaba’.  Soaltee Crowne Plaza, Soalteemode has hosted the food festival at the Garden Terrace of the hotel. The event commenced from last Wednesday.

All the stalls, the posters of classic Bollwood movies like Naseeb, Satyam Shivam Sundaram and more were artistically pasted on a bamboo wall. Charpai—a traditional woven bed, for eating, also added to the vibrant environment of dhaba amidst the guest. The typical dhaba setup was beyond everybody’s imagination.

Besides, the festival served traditional Punjabi cuisines: both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. They were inspired from local highway dhabas.  Most of the cuisines including Bhatti da Murgh, Baigan Da Bharta, Arbi Masala were kept inside earthly pots. Apart from the main dishes, the guest also experienced ‘Lassi’ and the traditional tea. Every cuisine on display was lip-smacking and healthy, prepared by the experienced chef to serve the authentic flavors of Punjabi dishes.

Soaltee had invited Rajinder Singh Paul, an experienced chef from Chandigarh, India. With the guest chef, the Executive Chef Yubaraj Pokharel led the team throughout the festival.

The festival is slated to running till December 7.
