Memorial gate in honor of martyrs constructed

KHOTANG, July 4: A memorial gate is being constructed to commemorate three district leaders killed during the Maoist armed insurgency in the district.  


The gate has been constructed in the honor of then Khotang District Secretary of the Nepali Congress Kaluman Gurung, Vice Presidnet Tankanath Acharya and teacher Dayaram Dhakal in front of District Hospital. They had been killed by the then Maoist cadres. The construction of the gate named as Kaluman-Tankanath-Dayaram Martyrs Memorial Gate started after it was inaugurated by 90-year-old freedom fighter Ganga Bahadur Sainju.

The gate has been initiated at the cost of Rs 150,000 while the remaining fund will be raised from party leaders, cadres and well-wishers, NC Constituency-2 President Tirtharaj Bhattarai told     Repblica Online.
