Memo submitted demanding Hindu state

KATHMANDU, July 6: A team led by former minister for Home Affairs and Nepali Congress (NC) leader Khum Bahadur Khadka submitted a memorandum to Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Nembang demanding reinstated of Nepal as a Hindu state.

Along with Khadka, former speaker Taranath Ranabhat, NC leader Laxman Ghimire, Advocate Kumar Regmi among others handed over the memo to CA Chairman on Monday.  


The memorandum demands reinstating Nepal as Hindu state, removal of secularism and rights to abstain from religion from the draft of the new statute.

Likewise, it asks to include pluralism and parliamentary system in preamble of the constitution.

While receiving the memo, CA Chairman Nembang said he will forward the demands to the Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC).
