KATHMANDU, Dec 20: A meeting of the central working committee of the Kamal Thapa-led Rashtriya Prajatantra Party began at Dhumbarahi-based party headquarters in the capital.

During today's meeting, the leaders discussed factors behind the party's defeat in the recent by-elections.

"The leaders concluded that the prime factor behind the party's debacle in the recent by-elections is the party's weak organizational base at the local level," RPP leader Mohan Shrestha told Republica Online who participated in the meeting.

The meeting will chalk out the party's future course of direction and strategies, according to Shrestha.

The RPP has decided to submit a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli calling on the government to announce public holiday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of late Prithvi Narayan Shah, the father of modern Nepal.

The party also decided to observe the birth anniversary of late King Shah by organizing various programs across the country. The RPP also called on the RPP (United) led by Pashupati Sumshere Rana and Prakash Chandra Lohani for unification.

The RPP also called on the government to pass an agreement signed with the US-based Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) grant through the ongoing parliament session.
