Media has important role for election friendly-environment: CEC Yadav

KATHMANDU, April 16: Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has stressed on making Radio Nepal stronger and competitive after strengthening its managerial, technological and administrative mechanism. 

Inaugurating a two-day long training on local polls and mass media here in the Radio Nepal premises, today, CEC Yadav said that the radio Nepal was making effective programs to bring about the election wave. 

He further focused on disseminating the factual news rather being pressurized and influential. Yadav praised the role of Radio Nepal regarding the election news. 

Expressing the hope that environment conducive for election will soon be established by forging consensus among the political parties, Mr Yadav reminded that the media should be aware of election code of conduct. 

Similarly, Secretary at the commission Gopinath Mainali opined that the mass media had an effective role to make the election fair, impartial and fearless. 

Radio Nepal Executive Director Suresh Karki said that the training was organized to inform the media persons about various aspects of election procedures including the media person election code of conducts, voters' education, and proportional representation among others. 

As many as 40 media persons are attending the training. 

It may be noted that the Radio Nepal has been disseminating the voters' education program in 21 different languages. RSS
