HILHANG, July 13: The Ranke-Phidim road section under the Mechi highway has reopened for traffic.
It had been obstructed following a landslide that occurred at 8:00 Saturday morning. The section, however, has opened only one-way. Security personnel and locals worked together to clear the debris and open the road section for traffic until 3:00 pm, according to Chief of District Traffic Police, Paanchthar, Janak Timsina.
There is still a slight chance of the route being used two way as the debris continues to fall from the hill, added Timsina. A large number of travelers from the hilly districts of Paanchthar, Taplejung, Terhathum heading towards the Terai and vice versa had been stranded following the landslide.
