Maoist Center Central Committee meeting today to deliberate on MCC, other political issues

KATHMANDU, March 4: A meeting of the Central Committee of the ruling  CPN (Maoist Center) is being held today.

The issues related to contemporary politics, local level election preparations and organizational issues will be discussed along with the US Assistance Project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) are scheduled to be discussed during the meeting to be held at Rastriya Sabhagriha in Bhrikutimandap from 11 AM .

In today's meeting, the Maoist leaders are scheduled to put forth their views on the MCC agreement and the 12-point interpretative declaration made by the parliament. The meeting will also discuss the selection of office bearers, standing committee, and politburo, division of responsibilities of leaders, completion of the central committee, local level elections and the latest political situation in the country, according to the party.

The CPN (Maoist Center) held its eighth national general convention from December 26, 2021 to January 2, 2022. Although the Central Committee meeting held in the meantime unanimously elected Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the Chairman, the selection of office bearers, Standing Committee, Politburo, division of responsibilities among the leaders and completion of the Central Committee are still pending.

Narayankaji Shrestha faction is dissatisfied after the MCC grant agreement was ratified with interpretative declarations. The Narayankaji-led faction has become even more dissatisfied after Dahal, who held a press conference the day after the MCC approval, expressed that the dissatisfied leaders can even leave the party.
