MCC finalize contract awarded for 315 km transmission line

With this award, all contract agreements related to the 315 km transmission line under the MCC compact are now complete.

KATHMANDU, Sep 26: The Millennium Challenge Account Nepal (MCA–Nepal) under the MCC (Millennium Challenge Compact Nepal) has awarded a final contract to build an 117 km section of the planned 315 km electricity transmission line. 



With this award, all contract agreements related to the 315 km transmission line under the MCC compact are now complete.

The joint venture Ashish-Bosler JV will build the 117 km transmission line stretching from the under construction Lapsifedi substation in Kathmandu), via the Ratmate substation in Nuwakot district, to the Hetauda substation under construction in Makwanpur district, according to MCA’s announcement.


MCA–Nepal has awarded this contract at a cost of USD 7.665 million through an international competitive procurement process. Under this agreement, the contractor should work designing, installation, testing, and operation of the 400 kV transmission line.


Earlier, MCA–Nepal had already signed agreements for the transmission line of  198 kilometer stretching from Ratmate substation in Nuwakot district to the new Damauli substation in Tanahun district. Then from that substation Damauli to the new Butwal substation in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West) district, and finally to the Nepal–India border.
