Police arrest Yunus Ansari, three Pakistan nationals with fake Indian currency worth million

Police on Friday arrested Nepal’s Yunus Ansari and three Pakistani nationals on the charge of smuggling worth millions of counterfeit Indian currency from the Tribhuwan International Airport. Senior Superintendent of Police Sandip Bhandari told Republica Online that they have seized the fake Indian currency from Ansari and his team which was brought from Pakistan via Doha in two briefcases on a Qatar Airways flight.

Narendra Modi thanks Nepali leaders who congratulated him on election victory

While thanking the ruling and opposition party leaders of Nepal for their congratulatory messages on his re-election, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to take India-Nepal ties to ever greater heights. Modi on Thursday evening replied to the leaders one by one from various countries including Nepal. In his replies to Nepali leaders on Twitter, Modi said his country was committed to further deepen ties with Nepal.

Nepal's longest-serving chief justice Nayan Bahadur Khatri dies at 99

Former Chief Justice Nayan Bahadur Khatri has passed away on Friday morning. He was 99. Khatri was the longest-serving chief justice of Nepal. He served as the top post of the judiciary from 1976 to 1985. He had handled several political cases of towering political figures of Nepal such as late BP Koirala, KI Singh, Ganesh Man Singh, Ram Raja Prasad Singh, and Manmohan Adhikary while serving at the Supreme Court.

Reconstruction of main building of Durbar High School completed even before its deadline

The reconstruction of the main building of Durbar High School, Kathmandu has been completed which was severely damaged by the 2015 earthquakes. Amid a function, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi and Chief Executive Officer of the National Reconstruction Authority Sushil Gyawali jointly inaugurated the building on Friday. The main building of the school is being reconstructed with financial and technical support from the Chinese government. 

Three die, 29 injured in separate road accidents

Three persons were killed, and at least 29 others injured in separate road accidents in Siraha, Makawanpur and Chitwan districts. Two persons were killed when a Kathmandu-bound (Na 8 Kha 982) passenger bus collided head-on with a truck (Na 3 Kha 4264) near Mirchaiya of Siraha district along the highway on Thursday night. At least 25 others were injured. The identity of the dead is yet to be ascertained.
