KATHMANDU, June 20: Helambu Rural Municipality has maintained that a massive landslide in the Himalayas of Helambu triggered the devastating flash floods downstream last Tuesday night.
Issuing a press statement on Saturday, the rural municipality maintained that a massive landslide after incessant rainfall at Bemathang below Semasedang Mountain triggered a devastating flash flood downstream, according to Dr Rabin Raj Niraula.

The landslide on June 16 was 25 percent of total land of Bemathang. The government has no recent information regarding the possibility of landslides in the remaining areas of Bemathang.
The local government has also urged one and all living near the Melamchi River to stay alert as there is a possibility of landslides and floods in the coming days as well.
