Without opposition, Krishna Bahadur Mahara frp, CPN Maoist Center was elected as the speaker of federal parliament today. Senior most member of the House of Representatives and acting speaker, Mahantha Thakur, from Rastriya Janta Party-Nepal announced and congratulated Mahara for his win.
Members of the Rastriya Janata Party presidium have met Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa today and drew his attention towards responding to the demands raised by RJP leader Resham Chaudhary. Water samples show depletion of toxic wastewater in connection with Carlsberg’s brewery in Nepal. A village nearby the brewery is exposed to soot pollution, which leads to an increased risk of respiratory diseases and cancer. Carlsberg acknowledges pollution, but claim that the problems have been solved.
Property worth Rs 60 million was lost in a fire when a shoe shop caught fire at Hatiya in the district headquarters this morning.
