Sovit Thakuri and Yakin Shrestha have jointly established Mandala Lounge Bar in Lakeside of Pokhara. The bar was established with the investment of around 20 million rupees.

“Though the Bar has not been formally launched, we are receiving an overwhelming number of customers,” said Executive Director of Mandala Lounge Bar, Sovit Thakuri. “Our priority is customer satisfaction whereas profit-making is the later concern. We are expecting national as well as international guests here,” he added.

According to Sovit, though they have many foreign tourists visiting the Bar, their priority is to serve and please Nepali customers. He added the food and music at the Bar had been adjusted as per the local people’s taste.

The Bar has Nepali classical music playing from 7 to 11pm every day. Sovit, who has an experience of over 11 years in the hotel business, has employed 27 youths at the Bar. He said they had given opportunities to amateurs rather than going for experienced ones. The Bar can accommodate as many as 185 customers in its two floors.

“Our initial scheme, before the official launch, is that we are offering 25 percent discount to every customer,” said Sovit.

Yakin said they were also planning to add more features at the Bar.  “We are planning to serve each and every type of tea and coffee produced in Nepal. And after the official launch, special gifts along with several offers will also be provided to the customers,” he said.

The lounge is made of sound proof glasses so that the music does not escape and disturb the neighbors. “The main reason behind running the bar is to make Nepali youths believe that multiple options and opportunities are available in our country. All they have to do is tap on the locally available resources,” said Yakin.
