Man convicted of rape sent to jail

GAIGHAT, March 6: A man convicted of raping a woman with physical disabilities has been sentenced to nine years in prison by the District Court Udaypur. The court also ordered him to provide compensation of Rs 50,000 to the victim, court registrar Raj Kumar Acharya said.

The predator is Bheem Bahadur Tamang, 43, of Triyuga municipality-16, Udyapur. A bench of court judge Manoj KC on Thursday issued the verdict on a case dating back to the May 26, 2019. Police had arrested the perpetrator following the complaint by the relatives of woman.
