KATHMANUD, Oct 11: Man Bahadur Tamang, 52, a permanent resident of Melamchi Municipality-6, has been arrested on the charge of trafficking a girl to India.
Acting on a special tip-off, a team of police from the Anti-human Trafficking Bureau, arrested Tamang from Gokarneshwar Municipality-5 in Kathmandu district. “Tamang was hiding in Gokarneshwar as police had intensified investigation on the charges against him,” according to the bureau.
Tamang had sold a 20-year-old girl in Mumbai, India. He took the girl to India luring her with a job with a handsome paycheck, police said.
The arrested is being investigated under the Human Trafficking and Smuggling Act.
