Man arrested for duping youths with promise to send them to Canada

KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Police have arrested a man on the charge of duping youths in the name of sending them to Canada.


According to police, Dhiraj Kumar Bishwakarma, 38, a permanent resident of Modi Rural Municipality-7, was arrested on the charge of swindling youths out of Rs 9.71 million by promising to send them to Canada.

The arrestee was residing temporarily at Pokhara Metropolitan City-30 in Kaski district, according to police.


The arrested had duped youths claiming that he had already sent people to Europe, Canada, and the United States for employment. “The arrested has duped 33 youths from Kaski, Tanahu, Myagdi, among other districts,” said police.


The Kaski District Court has already remanded Bishwakarma into custody for five days. Further investigation into the case is underway, according to the District Police Office, Kaski.
