Major parties yet to fix mayoral candidates in Kathmandu Metropolis

KATHMANDU, May 2: The major political parties have been unable to finalize the list of their candidates for the local polls slated for May 14 though there is less than an hour left before the process of candidacy nomination is set to begin.

With the significant increase in the number of persons aspiring to contest the local elections for mayoral and deputy-mayoral posts, the major political parties including Nepali Congress (NC) and CPM-UML have not finalized the list of their mayoral candidates especially in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

it has been learned that the heavyweights of NC and CPN-UML are busy finalizing the list of mayoral and deputy-mayoral candidates representing them in the upcoming local polls at the eleventh hour.

Fringe parties such as Sajha Party and Bibekshil Nepali Party have already fielded their mayoral candidates for the forthcoming local polls.
