KATHMANDU, June 13: Three major political parties– Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and CPN (Maoist Center)- have signed a two-point agreement in response to the ongoing controversy surrounding visit visa scandal and immigration irregularities.

The agreement, signed by the chief whips of the three parties, states that the government will cooperate with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), which is already probing the issue.

“The government will facilitate the investigation being carried out by the CIAA regarding the irregularities linked to visit visas and immigration,” reads the first point of the agreement.

The second point pledges a policy, legal, and structural overhaul of the immigration and visit visa system based on a detailed study.

Despite this agreement, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) refrained from signing, with leaders saying the party was not in agreement with the approach laid out in the deal.
