BAITADI, July 25: The Satbanjh-Gokuleshwor section of the Mahalaki Highway which had remained closed since the last night following a landslide at Bangabagar has re-opened.
The Road Division Office, Patan removed rubble with the help of a dozer allowing traffic services, as stated by the District Police Office, Baitadi.
Bangabagar at Dilasauni-6 along the Satbanjh-Gokuleshwor road section continues to be hit by landslides during monsoon since the past 15 years as debris deposited by the first landslide occurred here in 2060 BS was not properly cleared and the damaged road was not well restored.
The landslide at the time had devoured six houses at Bangabagar-6, turning 150 ropanis (one ropani is equivalent to 5476 sq ft) of arable land into desert. According to locals, the Bangabagar folks are forced to live amidst the fears of landslides in every monsoon.
