Veteran tabala player, Rabin Lal Shrestha passed away on Tuesday at Kathmandu Valley Hospital, Sundhara. He was 49.
He was suffering from brain tumor and had been in the hospital for around a week for the treatment as per Dunkun Das Chaudhary, tabala player and faculty member at Sirjana College of Fine Arts.
Shrestha was known for his expertise on Nepali eastern classical music. He was also a performer, recording artist and educator. He worked for 12 years as educator at Sirjana College of Fine Arts. Shrestha was known as a humble, down to earth person who was professionally accomplished and also a popular teacher.
He is survived by his wife Bina Shrestha and son Bijay Lal Shrestha.
