KATHMANDU, August 21: There is a possibility that CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal will be a candidate in the November 20 federal election from Rautahat Constituency 1.

Those close to him have said that there is a possibility that Nepal will be a candidate from his home region in the elections to be held on November 20.

Although Nepal has been saying that he will be a candidate in the parliamentary elections according to the party's decision. However, the sources said that since Nepal's home is in Gaur, the headquarters of Rautahat, it is almost certain that he will fight the election from there.

Similarly, Bhikhari Prasad Yadav, who is considered to be close to Nepal, has been elected as the Mayor  of Rajdevi Municipality from CPN (Unified Socialist) with a majority.

CPN (Unified Socialist) seemingly has a strong presence in other municipalities and rural municipalities. In one municipality, the elected mayor is said to be a sympathizer of Madhav Nepal though he is from a different political party.

Mayor of Gaur, Shambhu Sah, has claimed that they are suggesting to Nepal, who has gained recognition at the international level, to be a candidate from Rautahat constituency 1 and that the voters of this region are waiting to vote for him.

For a few months, various types of development and construction in Rautahat-1 have been speeding up. Various ministers in the federal government are making extensive visits to the headquarters Gaur and Constituency 1.

At a time when discussions are going on about the candidacy of Madhav Kumar Nepal from Rautahat Constituency 1, CPN-UML is putting forward Ajay Kumar Gupta, the former mayor of Gaur Municipality, as a strong candidate.
