DANG, July 21: Lumbini Chief Minister Jokh Bahadur Mahara is set to seek a vote of confidence from the Provincial Assembly today.
The vote will be held during the 24th meeting of the fourth session of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly, starting at 1 PM, according to Secretary Durlav Kumar Pun.

The need for the confidence vote arose after the UML withdrew its support from the government, prompting Chief Minister Mahara to prove his majority in the assembly.
Efforts are currently underway by the UML and Congress to form a new government in Lumbini. The UML holds 29 seats, while the Congress has 27.
The Maoist Center has 10 seats, with four seats each held by the RPP and the Nagarik Unmukti Party. The Loktantrik Samajwadi Party and Janamat Party each have three seats, and Ashok Rai’s Janata Samajwadi Party and Upendra Yadav’s Janata Samajwadi Party each have two seats. Additionally, the CPN (Unified Socialist) and Rastriya Janamorcha each have one seat, along with one independent member.
With a total of 87 members in the Lumbini Provincial Assembly, a majority requires the support of at least 44 members.
