KUSHMA, Sept 23: The Lower Modi Hydropower Project located in Parbat district is expected to generate hydroelectricity within a month, the project officials confirmed. The project with the capacity of 20 megawatt was scheduled to generate power in the last fiscal year but it got delayed due to locals' obstruction, natural disasters and other causes.

Project Chief Pawan Kumar Yadav said that landslides in the rainy season and flood in the project areas created difficulties to complete the project in the stipulated time. "Now, we are working to deliver output soon," he added. So far, 95 per cent of the total project works have been completed.

As the ongoing tasks have been expedited, he urged one and all not to harbour doubts on the completion of the project prior to Dashain festival.

The project would generate 117 million unit of hydroelectricity in a year. The total cost of the project is likely to rise due to delay in project completion though it was expected to cost Rs 3.6 billion in the initial stage. RSS
