KATHMANDU, Mar 7: The meetings of the lower and upper houses of parliament held separately on Tuesday fixed the date for the election of the speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) and chairman of the National Assembly (NA).
The meeting of the HoR fixed the speaker election for 1 pm on March 10 while the NA meeting fixed the date for electing chairman for 1 pm on March 14. Prior to the election of the upper house chairman, Prime Minister K P Oli is scheduled to seek vote of confidence on March 11.

Election of deputy speaker of the lower House is scheduled for March 16 while vice chairman of the upper house election has been set for March 18.
General Secretary of the federal parliament Manohar Prasad Bhattarai has published the elections scheduled for speaker, deputy speaker, chairman and vice chairman of the lower and upper house respectively following the meetings.
Both upper and lower houses on Tuesday also formed their respective regulations and act drafting committees. The lower house formed a 13-member committee. Krishnabhakta Pokhrel, Juli Kumari Mahato, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Dev Prasad Gurung, Prem Suwal and Brijesh Kumar Gupta have been appointed members of the committee. Meen Bahadur BK, Minendra Rijal, Rabindra Adhikari, Rekha Sharma, Laxmanlal Karna, Binda Pandey and Bimal Prasad Srivastav are the other members of the committee. The committee has been given a month to prepare the draft.
Likewise, in the committee of the upper house, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Parsuram Meghi Gurung, Dil Kumari Rawal, Surendra Raj Pandeya, Radheshyam Adhikari, Dinanath Sharma, Jeevan Buda, Brishesh Chandra Lal and Pramali Kumari Rai have been named members.
