Lokman Singh Karki still at govt quarters despite his suspension

KATHMANDU, Oct 21: Suspended Chief Commissioner of the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lokman Sigh Karki has not vacated the Tangal-based official residence yet.
Karki is still directing the staff of the office even though he was barred from discharging his duties and responsibilities after an impeachment motion was registered at the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday evening.
Most of the files related to sensitive cases have been brought in the quarters which were at the office room of CIAA chief before.
According to the CIAA sources, Karki is summoning various files related to sensitive cases under sub judice in his quarters. “Most of the files related to sensitive cases have been brought in the quarters which were at the office room of CIAA chief before," the sources told Republica Online.
As many as 157 lawmakers (107 from CPN-UML and 50 from CPN (Maoist Center) had registered an impeachment motion at the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday evening.
Following registration of the impeachment motion against Karki, he is barred from discharging official duties and responsibilities in line with Article 101 (6) of the Constitution.
However, security personnel and staff are still at Karki’s disposal.
