KATHMANDU, May 18: Lockdown enforcement has been further tightened in Kathmandu Metropolitan City following increasing risks of COVID-19.

Volunteers have been mobilised at inner parts of the metropolis and groceries and shops have been managed with strict compliance of social distancing by customers.

Restrictions have been placed at entrances of other settlements at Asan, Indra Chowk, Damaitole, Tamsipakha,  Nardevi, Dhokatole,  Bhurungkhel and Chhetrapati to limit people's mobility.

Only ambulances, fire engines and vehicles belonging to media and vehicles carrying drinking water and daily essentials are allowed to ply.

Local people have been requested to inform the respective ward office when strangers enter their settlements, said KMC's Spokesperson Ishwar Man Dangol. "Anyone defying the lockdown will face action with the help of the central government," he said, adding that KMC has sought help from the central government to limit the mobility of people from one village to another.
