KATHMANDU, August 3 : Saptakoshi River flood has entered the settlement from zero point located in Belka Municipality- 8 of Udayapur.

Hundreds of houses are at risk as the flooded river breached the embankments and entered the settlements. With the efforts made by the government to stop the erosion proving ineffective, the flood broke through the temporary dam and entered the settlements.

The local residents have now started leaving the village. Pictures of them carrying their belongings to a safe place are going viral on social media. The local administration has not decided where they will be resettled.

In 2045 BS, Koshi River changed its course. A human settlement was established after the River began to flow from the east. After 34 years, Koshi has taken its old path, leaving hundreds of families displaced.
