The demands include employment opportunities for locals, increasing compensation amount for acquisitioned land, and construction of roads and schools among other development activities in the area. Locals have accused the project officials of not paying heed to their demands.
Rabindra Bhatta, an accountant of the project, said that the locals also vandalized the project office on Sunday. "There is no environment to continue work in the office," said Bhatta.
Security personnel had fired five bullets in the air to disperse the mob and bring the situation under control.
